Week 3 reading: The meaning of Web 2.0.

Aguiton and Cardon (2007) conclude that “the sociological characteristics of these [web 2.0] services is that making personal production public creates a new articulation between individualism and solidarity, which reveals the strength of weak cooperation.”  They further observe that “People build their identity through the continuous search for recognition in the eyes of others.”

This article is effectively examining the way Web 2.0 users and their behaviors is defining the weak cooperation phenomenon and leading to new ways of structuring  innovation in the conventional and emerging web technology development sectors.

They talk about BarCamp and how it is a function of the decentralizing production and collaboration models.
